Sheffield Steeldogs remain top of the English Premier League despite mixed results last weekend.
A 4-2 win over Milton Keynes Lightning at iceSheffield on Sunday made up for the 3-2 loss the night before at Basingstoke Bison.
Andrew Hirst, Janis Ozolins and Edgars Bebris did the damage against MK, although goaltender Ben Bowns broke the visitors spirit with 33 saves.
Player coach Andre Payette and Ozolins scored the goals at Bison.
Payette said: “It’s been a fantastic start to the season for our team and unbelievable that we are still top of the league after a weekend against two tough teams. The guys are giving their all and I couldn’t be more proud of them all.”
The Steeldogs coach added: “To play four games as they have against bigger teams in the league with probably the youngest set of players is superb. Another commitment made this year was to team defence and this has been reflected well in our average of two goals away per game.
“The results are a testament to our commitment to being a blue-collar Sheffield team, of which our fans and city can be proud.”
