Sheffield Steeldogs are picking themselves up after two weekend defeats in which they conceded 10 goals.
Andre Payette’s men have three games in seven days against opponents below them, starting with a visit to Telford tonight.
The team travelled down to Basingstoke last Saturday and nosedived 5-3. They had taken the lead in a fast paced and much more competitive game through Janis Ozolins, and were still holding their own at 3-3 at the end of the first period.
Bison player coach Steve Moria, who celebrated his 50th birthday last week, bagged a goal in each period, completing his hat trick with an empty net goal with thirteen seconds on the clock to seal a five three win for his side.
Steeldogs goals came from Ozolins (two) and Lloyd Gibson, while man of the match awards went to Steve Moria and Sheffield’s Craig Elliott.
A high tempo game that could have gone to overtime and which did much to erase the scoreline’s of the previous two encounters.
Sunday’s home game against Swindon Wildcats ended with a 5-2 loss. The goals came from Steve Duncombe and a stunner from Ozolins, who sailed round four opponents before beating the Swindon netminder with a rocket to the top corner.
