HRT causing hot flush for F1 team

WORRYINGLY for Dinnington-based outfit Marussia Virgin Racing, the gap is closing between them and fellow backmarkers HRT Hispania.

At the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday, HRT’s Daniel Ricciardo crossed the line one place above Virgin’s Jerome d’Ambrosio in 19th position.

Although senior driver Timo Glock finished almost 10 seconds in front of Ricciardo, it was another reality check for Virgin, who had harboured hopes of challenging the midfield pack this season.

While Team Lotus have moved forward and, on occasions, reached the second stage of qualifying on Saturdays, John Booth’s men remain short of speed and have already turned their attentions to developing the 2012 race car.
