Officials at Doncaster are taking ‘every precaution’ ahead of the two-day meeting tomorrow and Saturday.
Vulnerable areas will be protected and the entire track could be covered if the weather forecast suggests temperatures might plummet.
“The ground is currently good. The forecast for tonight is temperatures of 1C to around zero, 3C tomorrow and the lowest for Thursday night is minus 1C,” said Gemma Charrington, standing in for clerk of the course David Williams, who is ill.
“We are forecast 3C or 4C on Friday and we are not expecting anything really bad like minus 3C.
“We will be covering landings, take-offs and other vulnerable areas. We are monitoring the situation on covering the whole track possibly if the forecast does deteriorate.
“At the moment the worst we are forecast is minus 1C. We will look at it again tomorrow.”
