WITH the festive season now well and truly upon us, all thoughts of racing switch to the fantastic King George VI Chase held at Kempton Park on Boxing Day.
This year’s renewal looks as if it could be one of the best ever with both Kauto Star and 2010 winner Long Run doing battle once more.
Following last year’s win, the Robert Waley-Cohen- owned horse went on to win the Gold Cup last season to prove himself the top chaser in the country. However, he was below par behind the great Kauto Star in the Betfair Chase at Haydock.
Long Run’s regular rider Sam Waley-Cohen is still free to ride despite picking up a 12-day ban for taking the wrong course at Fakenham last week.
Preparations continue at a pace ahead of our final fixture of the season which is set to take place on Thursday, December 29.
The meeting is a new addition to the Town Moor’s jumps calendar and we are expecting to attract a good crowd making the most of their festive break with a seven race card, from 12.10pm.
We are past the winning post again at the Doncaster Chamber Business Awards, taking away the award for Business of the Year (£3m turnover and over).
The win means the racecourse has had success with three major awards this year having been crowned Showcase Champion at the RCA Showcase Awards and also taking away the Award for Best Free Racing Day, for the Royal Wedding Race Day at the same event.
And the events team are busy preparing for the New Year’s Eve Ball.
Tickets are still available so don’t miss out.
