Heads dropping at The Lane

Whilst the last five minutes of the Cardiff game were encouraging, in fact we might have won if it had lasted another five minutes, it did not diguise a malaise which has affected the Sheffiedl United team all season.

There is a lack of belief, and a lack of passion, which the previous manager could inspire.

If we put to one side the defensive frailty, and the new manager's desire to change the type of play, then we are seeing heads go down where they did not in recent seasons.

Managers should always try to strengthen the squad, but we are aware that, at Sheffield United, you must get on with the squad you've got, put some fire into the team, and battle to get the wins.

It was bad enough to be relegated from the Premiership, but to get virtually nil national newspaper coverage (apart occasionaly for the Tevez affair) also hurts.

Our stay in the Premiership was all too brief, and now we see Barnsley knocking at the door.

We have quite a good squad, let's get them fired up to produce the goods again.
