Rotherham Titans assistant coach Jim Kilfoyle hopes that Tongan international Chris Hala Ufia will fit the bill as the try-scoring No 8 he has been looking for.
The former Bradford and Bingley forward attracted interest from several British and European clubs but has signed a deal with Titans.
"We were first aware of him a couple of years ago when he came to play for Bradford and Bingley and scored 35 tries in a season which is remarkable for a back row player," said Kilfoyle.
"He played for Gran Parma in Italy last season and his performances were such that he has been watched by Leicester and Northampton.
"He has all of the qualities you need to play number eight, he's very sharp but can also be used as a strikeforce."
Hala Ufia enjoyed two promotions in two seasons with Bradford before his move to Italy and will report for pre-season training after completing his international commitments in July.
