Star Grass Roots has returned to winning ways with a fine display in her latest outing.

There was added pressure as our very own puppy started out 2/1 favourite but she rose to the challenge and won the A7 grade race by a distance of 1½ lengths.

Dave Perry, general manager of Owlerton Greyhound Stadium, said: “It was fantastic to see Star Grass Roots storm to victory after a shaky couple of weeks.

“She ran a calculated time of 30.67 seconds to win the race nicely and we are really proud of how she tackled the race.

“We know she is a good A7 greyhound and this strong performance will have given her an extra boost of confidence. Moving forward, she will now be tried again in the grade of A6 to see if we can step her up.”

Meanwhile, tickets are still available for one of the biggest nights of the year at Owlerton Greyhound Stadium: the hugely popular Ladies Day, which is this year raising money for St Luke’s Hospice.

The event takes place on July 15 from 6pm. For tickets, call 0114 234 3074 or visit
