Sheffield Diving achieved a superb third place in the overall medal table at the ASA National Age Group Diving Championships winning nine medals, including five gold.
The event took place at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre and featured more than 600 competitors from 25 clubs.
Frankie Curtis produced the performance of the championships. He took gold medals in the 12/13 years platform and 3 metre springboard events and a silver medal in the 1 metre springboard competition. Isaac Trueman-Marsden took the silver medal in the 3 metre event.
Maisie Bond, aged only nine, pushed Frankie for top billing by winning gold in the 10/11 years platform event. She beat her older opponents by nearly 20 points scoring highest with an inward 1½ somersault dive that earned 44 points.
Oliver Hoban was a double medallist taking gold on the 14/15 years 1 metre springboard and silver on the 3 metre springboard where he finished just three points away from another gold medal.
Bron Jenkinson was also a gold medallist winning the 16 + years 3 metre springboard event. His forward 3½ somersault final dive clinched victory and afterwards he said, “I had no idea where I was, and I was so nervous when I got on the board for the front three and a half, but when I hit that water…I was celebrating so hard under the water”
Harrison Hartley was Sheffield’s final medallist winning silver in the 10/11 years 1 metre springboard event.
