Goodison set for a break before return

SHEFFIELD'S Paul Goodison will take time off before embarking on the biggest challenge of his life.

Twenty nine-year-old Goodison, who was confirmed in Britain’s Olympic sailing team last week, is returning home to South Yorkshire after four months on the road.

But the Sheffield-born star - who finished fourth at the Athens games three years ago - insists the hard work must start soon if he is to realise his Olympics dream.

“I’m looking forward to getting back home and seeing my friends and family for a while – and putting sailing to the back of my mind,” he said.

“It’s been a stressful year and earning my Olympic place means I can afford a bit of down time.

“I’m heading out to Australia for the winter and that’s when the hard work really starts.

“We’ve not made the final plans training wise so I’m not sure what is happening.

“The conditions in China are quite fickle and means you need to weight less than if you were sailing anywhere else in the world” he said.
