Golf courses in Sheffield could reopen from Wednesday, after the Government announced it was easing the coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

People will be allowed to take unlimited exercise outdoors and to play sports including tennis and golf with other members of their own household from Wednesday, May 13, provided they maintain social distancing.

SIV, which runs public golf courses in Sheffield, has said it is preparing to reopen its courses as soon as possible.

“Time to dust off those golf clubs! We are currently awaiting further detail on the potential reopening of golf courses following the Prime Minister's statement,” it said.

“At present we are finalising preparations to ensure the courses are ready and we're excited at the prospect of re-opening to members and non-members alike.”
