Young Hallamshire Golf Club member Matthew Fitzpatrick narrowly missed out on winning the prestigious Carris Trophy.
The 16-year-old held a two-stroke lead overnight but a triple bogey on the par four fourth at the Broadstone Golf Club in Dorset contributed to a two over par 72.
He eventually lost by one shot to Enfield’s Harry Casey for the English Under-18 Boys Strokeplay Championship.
Fitzpatrick is in a superb spell of form.
He has won the Yorkshire U-18 Championship and finished runner-up at the Yorkshire Amateur Championship - losing on the last of the 36 hole final.
