Matt Fitzpatrick had mixed fortunes during his first competitive round of 2015.
The Sheffield golfer finished the first round of the South African Open with a one over par round of 73, leaving him seven shots off the overnight leader.
Fitzpatrick – starting his round on the tenth hole – carded two bogeys in his first three holes before moving back to level par with a pair of birdies.
But a double bogey five on 17 left him with plenty to do on his back nine.
A bogey got things off to a bad start but he steadied the ship with six pars and two birdies in a strong final eight holes.
The 20-year-old tees off for his second round at 10.20am this morning.
