Matsuyama, the first-ever Japanese professional golfer to win a men’s major golf championship, earned an eye-watering $7,446 with every swing at the competition.

A William Hill spokesperson said: “2021 PGA Tour is a really exciting season for golf fans. With a huge prize fund and a roster of incredibly talented golfers, the Masters is one of the most highly anticipated events on the Tour.

"With this in mind, we were interested to find out how lucrative the event really is for golfers and so we took a look at how much they earned by swing at this prestigious tournament.”

Fitzpatrick shot 12 birdies at this year’s event and finished tied in thirty-forth place.

Matt Fitzpatrick plays his shot from the seventh tee during the third round of the Masters.

After the tournament he tweeted: “A solid week overall at The Masters.

“Putting wasn’t up to my usual standards but always a learning experience at Augusta.”

Fitzpatrick’s highest Masters finish came in 2016 when he was joint seventh after finishing even.
