A Superb five under par round of 66 enabled Richard Gregory to triumph in the latest Sheffield PGA competition.

At Hallamshire GC, Richard, from Abbeydale, followed a steady front nine by firing four birdies to overtake runner-up James French (Owston Hall) who went out in a stunning five under par 29. He finished a shot behind on 67, four under.

Joint third with 71s were John Oates of Hallowes and Geoff Tickell of Hallamshire.

Gregory and French are locked together at the top of the Professional Order of Merit on 285 points each. Lying third is Justin Fores of Bondhay on 205 and fourth is Jason Proctor of Mooreview.

The Assistant Order of Merit table is headed by Aaron Hodkin (Wheatley) on 285, Stephen Roberts (Beauchief) 220 and Matt Civil (Hallamshire) 185pts.

In the Sheffield Union Team Championship won by Renishaw, top individuals were Joe Dean (Renishaw) and David Booth (Rotherham) 142, John Simpkin (Renishaw), Oliver Smith (Sickleholme) 143, Ben Smith (Worksop) 145.
