Frustrated Toseland eyes on Silverstone

Have your say

JAMES Toseland was forced to endure another painful chapter in his stop-start 2011 World Superbike season at round eight in Brno after his ongoing wrist injury forced him to miss both qualifying and race day.

Toseland had only completed one race since the opening round of the season at Phillip Island, Australia way back in February heading into round eight in the Czech Republic.

That race in the USA in May saw the Kiveton ace finish a disappointing 15th and aggravate the wrist injury he sustained in testing immediately following the opening weekend of action Down Under.

As a result Toseland was forced to sit out rounds six and seven to completely rest the injury and ahead of Brno the 30-year-old was confident he could complete the whole weekend’s action.

However that prediction proved to be misguided with Toseland - with new girlfriend pop star Katie Melua in his garage - again feeling pain in the troublesome wrist during the opening day’s practice.

As a result the Kiveton rider decided to call premature time on his weekend’s action with the carrot of World Superbike round nine on home soil at Silverstone in three week’s time dangling in front of him.
