Doncaster Knights recorded their second successive big win of pre-season as they ran in nine tries against National Two North outfit Sedgley Park.

Latu Makaafi followed up his brace against Hull with another score, while WillGriff John, Paul Jarvis, Glen Kenworthy and Bevon Armitage were also on the trysheet.

Director of rugby Clive Griffiths took the opportunity to have a look at several trialists, who gave the Welshman food for thought ahead of their final friendly run-out at home to Blaydon this weekend.

Newcastle Falcons lock forward Glen Young started the game for Doncaster and showed up well in the lineout.

Otley flanker Matt Heaton came off the bench to score a 43rd minute try, as did Yorkshire Carnegie flanker Jack Barnard just after the hour mark.

Loughborough Students pair Harry Betts and Josh Sharp were also named among the replacements as Griffiths continues to ponder making further reinforcements ahead of the new Championship season.

John burst over within 60 seconds but the biggest cheer of the first half was reserved for veteran Kenworthy’s touch down. Joe Sproston and Ben Hunter also dotted down after the break.
