Yorks U-15 star

DONCASTER youngster Sean Richards is hoping that he did enough last weekend looking to impress the national selectors when representing Yorkshire Under 15s in the Rugby Football League-organised National Carnival.

Ridgewood pupil Sean, who played for Doncaster Toll Bar and South Yorkshire Service Area last season as well as being one of the first batch of local youngsters to gain a scholarship place with Doncaster Rugby League Club, demonstrated why he has been identified as being amongst the top 20 players in the Yorkshire region in his age-group with impressive displays against other regions.

Said South Yorkshire Rugby League Development Officer Darren Higgins: “It is not only a great achievement for Sean as an individual player but also demonstrates talented young rugby league players do exist in the Doncaster and South Yorkshire area.

“With more and more opportunities for local youngsters to play the game locally in schools and local clubs, and the player pathway we now have in place, never before has there been greater opportunity for local players to make their mark in the game.”

Despite having their clubhouse and facilities devastated by this summer’s floods, Doncaster Toll Bar are continuing to prepare for the forthcoming season with training sessions being held at Don Valley High School.

The club are looking to strengthen in all age groups and would welcome interested parties. For more information contact Kev Jones on 07786242759
