The Tykes sealed a 2-1 home win over Bolton Wanderers with Lindsey Tugby involved in both home goals in the last 10 minutes of the first half. Her interplay with Kathryn Smith allowed Smith to get into the area and slide the ball home.

Then just a few seconds before the interval, Tugby's pinpoint free-kick was headed home from close range by Sophie Bell. Barnsley survived a nervy ending after Rebecca Foster pulled one back from a penalty on 75 minutes.

But with Aston Villa falling just short of the goals they needed to overtake the Blades, United’s top spot was confirmed after a wait once penalties had finished. United travel to Leicester City on Sunday in the Women's Championship (2pm) - their last game of 2019.
