When Chesterfield will know more about the plans for the rest of the National League season

The Football Association and National League clubs will hold talks on Tuesday about how to proceed with the rest of the season.

The National League campaign has been suspended until at least April 3 due to the coronavirus outbreak but Premier League and EFL matches have now been halted until April 30 at the earliest.

National League fixtures are due to finish on April 25.

A number of non-league clubs are concerned for their future given many rely on matchday revenue to survive.

Barnet FC put all non-playing staff on notice of redundancy on Tuesday and Aldershot Town today announced players, management and staff have agreed to take a salary cut.

“This is to ensure that all those involved with the football club at this moment in time are doing everything we can help to the club move forward, given these difficult circumstances,” Aldershot said in a statement.

“This decision has also stemmed from the recent decision to suspend the EFL until the end of April and at the moment, the uncertainty on when a decision on the National League’s approach has been made as well.”

A report in the national media on Thursday suggested National League chief executive, Mike Tattersall, is to put forward a plan to the FA for a £17million financial package for the 68 clubs in the top two divisions which would work out at just under £250,000 each.

While Dagenham and Redbridge managing director, Steve Thompson, has said National League clubs may need money from the government to survive.
