The Millers dropped four points in the last two Championship matches after conceding injury time goals.

They gave away a cheap penalty at Birmingham to draw 1-1 before Huddersfield scored in the sixth minute of added time, via an own-goal, to earn a point by the same scoreline.

Warne's men would be sitting in the top six of the very early league table had they held on to their leads, but it has been another reminder of just how tough it is to win games at this level.

“You always need a second goal,” Warne said. “If you are leading in this league with 10 minutes to go you have got to expect the opposition to control the game and have a go at you.

“So it will play on their minds. The good thing is when we show them what went wrong, they will see the importance of everything they do in the last 10 minutes.

“It will have a psychological blow on them and it was a weekend spoiler that is for sure.

“But we have to pick them up and make them feel invincible for this month's fixtures when they come back, which are brutal.”

Those two slips have just taken the edge of what would have been a dream start to the campaign.

“I am not doing a merry dance because we should be four points better off,” Warne added.

“The game we played the best in, and this is how humbling football is, our best performance was by far the Millwall game which we lost.

“I am proud of the group and how they train and take information on. I am not disappointed with the start and lots of managers will sit here and say it could be so much more.

“We got what we deserved last week, a draw, but I tip my head off to the Huddersfield team they were excellent.

“But it does give my lads going into the international break a bit of a livener in that if you drop your standards in any way you're in trouble.”
