Manager Gary Caldwell says he and the staff at the Proact have got to work on the mental side of the game, after receiving information that suggests they’ve already improved the physical side.

“I think they are (stronger) physically,” said the manager, now a month into his job with the Spireites.

“The issue we have now is mentally, for me, the mentality of a footballer is huge.

“We have to work extremely hard to improve the players mentally.

“From what I can see they look better, the numbers we get from stats suggest they are fitter and better but mentally I think we can improve a lot still.

“Our mentality has to be far stronger and when we take that into games with the ability we have, then we’ll win games.”

Last week Town focused a lot on attacking play, but that alone won’t keep them up the manager says.

“We spent a lot of time on it last week and I think you saw the benefits but you also lose a bit in your defensive play.

“You have to see the game as a whole and work on everything.”
