Wes wonders about team's poor home form

FORMER Wigan Rugby League Club star Wes Davis is as puzzled as the rest of his team-mates at Doncaster Knights' poor home form this season.

“We have won our first four National League One and also picked up a bonus point in three of them,” said the utility back.

“But we haven’t performed well in either of our two home games and for some reason we haven’t been firing on all cylinders.

“We want to make Castle Park a place where teams fear to come but that hasn’t been the case against the Cornish All Blacks and Esher.

“We played poorly against the All Blacks and we wanted to make amends at Newbury, which we did.

“We played some of the best rugby that we have played in my time here in that game and we had hoped to carry on from where we had left off in that game against Esher on Saturday.

“But for whatever reason - it could possibly be the level of expectation - we are going away from the game plan so far at home.

“I know that we lost a number of good players during the summer but the club also signed some good players and the squad looks stronger - though we have a lot of injuries and we could do with a few players back.

“We certainly played better at home last season, but it is still very early in the campaign and there is still plenty of time to put things right.”
