Webb handed new role

THE Northern Counties East League revealed at their annual general meeting over the weekend that Baris are to be its new sponsors and Howard Webb MBE is to be the league’s new president.

Webb, a former NCEL referee, was offered the role after a phenomenal 2010 that saw the Rotherham man became the first referee to ever to officiate at the Champions League final and the World Cup final in the same season.

Baris take over the sponsorship of the NCEL from sportswear firm Koolsport whose three-year link-up had come to an end, the competition now to be known as the Baris Northern Counties East League. Baris Facades and Linings Limited are based in Huthwaite, Notts and are also the main sponsors to Division One Champions Staveley Miners Welfare.

The draw for the first two rounds of the League Cup were made which see’s the Premier Division clubs entering the competition in the second round.

Relegated Hallam and Dinnington Town were handed tricky away ties at Teversal and Shirebrook Town respectively while Handsworth will host Pontefract Colliery.
