Forward Kristian Dennis, a free agent after his contract at Stockport ended, was announced as a Spireite on Tuesday.

He spent last season on loan with Macclesfield, the club where he began his career and made his Football League debut in 2008.

Spells in non-league ensued with Woodley Sports, Mossley, Curzon Ashton, for whom he scored 67 goals in 65 games, and Stockport.

Danny Wilson believes the 26-year-old will contribute at the highest level he’s ever played at.

“He’s a very level-headed boy who is determined to do well in the Football League and become an established player. He is prolific and I think he can offer us a great deal.”

Dennis, the scorer of 29 goals in 45 games for National League Macclesfield last season, wants to show he’s capable of making it in League One.

“I’m buzzing and hopefully I can repay the faith shown in me,” he said.

“I believe in my own ability and anything can happen if someone believes in you.”
