Playing in goal for Nottingham Forest against Tottenham at Wembley, Crossley conceded a penalty for bringing down the marauding Gary Lineker.

But when the England striker picked himself up to take the spot-kick, Crossley became only the second goalkeeper to save a penalty in an FA Cup Final.

The Welshman followed Dave Beasant, who became the first for Wimbledon in 1988.

Spurs went on to win the final 2-1, lifting the FA Cup for a a then-record eighth time.
