Notts County hosted Chesterfield on this day in 2003, and the two sides played out a 1-1 draw in front of 6,801 spectators – Caleb Folan, a former Leeds United striker, on the scoresheet for the visitors.

In 1997 the Spireites beat Wycombe Wanderers 4-2 at Saltergate, and three years earlier took three points from a visit to Hereford, winning 3-0.
