Two years ago today Chesterfield were 2-0 winners at Burton Albion, Jay O’Shea with both goals in front of 4,855.

That result formed part of a 10-match unbeaten run that the Spireites ended the 2013/14 season with.

In 2013, Chesterfield beat Exeter City 4-0 in the final game of the season.

Jack Lester ended his playing career with a two-goal farewell as Chesterfield cruised to a home win.

The 37-year-old striker marked his 395th and last League game by taking his tally to 149 with a penalty and a typically cool finish, Jay O’Shea and Marc Richards also getting on the scoresheet.

In 2004 the Spireites were part of an absolute thriller, drawing 4-4 with Grimsby Town at Saltergate.

David Reeves claimed a hat-trick in a dramatic and controversial relegation battle and both teams had a player sent off.

Glyn Hurst was also on target for Chesterfield.

Luton got the better of the Spireites in 1999, winning 1-0, and three years prior to that Chesterfield went down 2-0 against Bournemouth.

Saturday 27th April 1991 saw Chesterfield beaten 3-0 by Scunthorpe away from home.

Stockport County were beaten 1-0 in 1985 at Edgeley Park, by the soon-to-be-crowned Division Four champions.

Millwall were the visitors to Saltergate in 1982 and went home with three points following a 1-0 win.

The final day of the 1973/74 season saw Chesterfield lose 2-0 at home to Shrewbury, and four years earlier they won 3-1 at home to Peterborough in the last action of that glorious title-winning campaign.

Torquay United beat the Spireites 2-1 in 1963, but in 1957 Chesterfield beat Wrexham 3-1 away from home.
