Ian Evatt, Sam Hird and Drew Talbot, who have made a combined 787 appearances for the club, are coming to the end of their contracts at the Proact.

A club statement released this afternoon confirmed they will all have to seek pastures new.

Evatt was caretaker boss for the final three games of this season, assisted by Hird who is still recovering from hip surgery.

Talbot only rejoined Chesterfield in the January transfer window, for his second stint as a Spireite.

Further details about the club’s retained list are expected to be released tomorrow.

A spokesman said: “The club would like to thank Ian, Sam and Drew for their loyal service and efforts during their time with the club, and wish them all well for the future.”

Derbyshire Times sources suggest that other out of contract players will be allowed to leave.
