Tigers tame young Derby

WORKSOP Town beat a young Derby County side 3-1 at Sandy Lane last night.

On-trial Stuart Copnell opened the scoring for the Tigers after 17 minutes, and Matt Caudwell stretched the advantage with a deflected free-kick five minutes before the break.

Caudwell extended the lead three minutes into the second half with a fine 22-yard strike. The young Derby side reduced the arrears through Matt Richards on 72 minutes.

27th minute goal from Craig Nelthorpe gave a Doncaster Rovers XI a 1-0 win at Brigg Town of Unibond League Div One South.

Rovers fielded a mainly young team but had two players on their way back from injury, striker Mark McCammon, who played for 53 minutes, and defender Steve Roberts who figured for 72 minutes.
