It was a rare away win in the second tier and their first on the opening day of this division since 2002.

Here, the Star takes a look at the three men who impressed for the Millers at Adams Park.

The central defender claimed all the glory as he scored the injury-time winner – a goal that gave the Millers just their second away win in 49 Championship games. Ihiekwe, playing his first game since a knee operation, climbed highest to place a corner into the bottom corner.

It capped a fine ending to what was initially a difficult start at Adams Park as he found life tough against and endless running of Scott Kashket. But the central defender, picked in last season's League One PFA team of the year, grew into the game with an imposing performance.

Jamal Blackman

The on-loan goalkeeper had a debut to forget at Salford in the Carabao Cup, giving a penaltyaway and looking shaky all round. Boss Paul Warne kept the faith and was rewarded with a much more assured display – one that resulted in a clean sheet.

Blackman did not have a lot of shots to contend with, but marshalled his area well and relieved pressure by calmly collecting crosses. It will give Blackman, Warne and the fans theconfidence that he can be a reliable number one this season.

Joe Mattock

There is one player who Warne would always want in his Championship side and that is left-back Joe Mattock. The former Sheffield Wednesday man has long been a trusted lieutenant of Warne and this season will be no different.

As well as being a solid and dependable defender, it helps that he has a delightful left foot that can be a danger for the Millers. And it was his delivery that teed up Ihiekwe for the most decisive moment of the match. In fact, Mattock produced five key passes during the 90 minutes at Wycombe, more than any other player on the opening weekend of the Championship.
