Spireites: Anderson taking advantage of bosses' input

The on-loan Burnley defender has been a big part of Chesterfield’s resurgence, with just six goals conceded in the seven games he’s played.

But as much as the 22-year-old has helped Danny Wilson and Chris Morgan’s cause, he says their input has benefitted him.

After a ‘massive’ first clean sheet for the club at Southend on Saturday, and ahead of the visit of high flying but out of form Walsall, the 6ft 4ins youngster is clearly enjoying first team football at the Proact.

“It’s been brilliant,” he said.

“In a month I’ve played seven games, which is fantastic, so much better than what I was doing before.

“And playing in front of the crowds, you want it so much, as much as the fans do – you want to give your all for them.”

Anderson admits he loathes seeing the ball nestling in the back of his net, and is rightly proud of Chesterfield’s defensive record since his arrival.

He isn’t taking all the credit for his performances, however.

Moving to Spireites has given him a chance to develop his defensive capabilities, under Wilson and Morgan.

“Working with Danny Wilson has been brilliant, his experience says it all, he’s got a lot of games under his belt and he can help my game,” he said.

“Chris Morgan was a centre-half as well, a very good one and I do little bits with him after training, working on my heading and clearances.

“They’re all vital parts of my game so I have to make sure they’re the best they can be.”

It’s not just Anderson displaying a sunny disposition at the Proact.

Without a defeat in five games, and having recently turned over two top 10 sides, Spireites are a more carefree outfit than the one the defender joined at the start of February.

“There are more smiles on faces, there’s more of a spring in people’s steps.

“You get a few results on the bounce and there’s a bit more confidence in the lads.”
