Sorry Eric, but Rovers deserved the sunshine at Luton

AS Luton Town's most famous fan once said "Bring me sunshine."

Well the sun seemed to be shining for the Rovers at Kenilworth Road on Saturday until a man nearer retirement than his teens, Paul Furlong, headed home an equaliser.

James Hayter had earlier given Rovers a first half lead that was thoroughly deserved and with a bit more luck - SteveRoberts’ effort coming back off the post and Hayter’s follow up rattling the crossbar - then we could have come back up the M1 with all three points.

When it comes to penalties referees seem to have selective vision and are certainly not in Rovers favour.

Luton’s ground is typical of many built in the 40s and 50s.

The away entrance is between two terraced houses and the main entrance under a railway arch.

You can forget about parking. I had to bribe myself a parking space with a packet of jammie dodgers to the stewards in the executive car park.

The supporters buses were way ahead of time before meeting the Police at Toddington services, so they killed an hour in a pub near NorthamptonTown’s ground confusing the hell out of the stewards who were expecting Port Vale fans’ arrival for their game against the Cobblers.

After the game the police got the coaches out of town swiftly, saving about an hour of being stuck in traffic in an area of Luton which is not the nicest .

Manager Sean O’Driscoll’s post-match interview came to an abrupt end, stunning everyone into silence, after being asked what his thoughts were about chairman John Ryan publicy giving him a vote of confidence.

“I don’t care,” he said before ending the interview and exiting stage left.

In his defence I just thing that he is fed up with all the questions regarding his position.

Just when you think you have sorted the parking out for the home match bus, along comes the council and sticks their noses in. They now tell us that we cannot park on the road opposite car park 2 even though we have a special pass from the police.

But despite all the obstacles in our way we will continue to run our coach, which by the way will be an hour later than normal on Sunday due to the 4pm kick off.

Remember Mr Winter we are trying to adhere to your green transport policy by reducing the number of vehicles travelling to the Keepmoat, especially as the special bus services to the Keepmoat have been withdrawn.

Sunday’s game against Huddersfield will show if the board’s offer of transport and tickets for Castleford and Pontefract rugby league fans is a success or not.

Hopefully the team can go and give the Terriers a tonking in front of the camera's as we did when we played our first game at the Keepmoat.
