Sheffield's Ellie Roebuck shortlisted for FIFA award

Sheffield-born Ellie Roebuck has been nominated in the women’s goalkeeper category for The Best FIFA Football Awards.

The Manchester City and England stopper kept more sheets (10) in the 2019/20 FA Women's Super League than any other goalkeeper in the English top flight.

Roebuck, 21, has been shortlisted alongside Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany/Chelsea FC Women), Sarah Bouhaddi (France/Olympique Lyonnais), Christiane Endler (Chile/Paris Saint-Germain), Hedvig Lindahl (Sweden/VfL Wolfsburg/Atlético de Madrid Femenino) and Alyssa Naeher (USA/Chicago Red Stars)

The six-strong shortlist is based on their respective achievements during the period between 8 July 2019 and 7 October 2020 and was compiled by a panel of experts in women's football.

Voting to decide the winner is equally weighted between fans, journalists, national team coaches and captains.

The three finalists for each award will be revealed at a later date, with all award winners revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in Zurich on 17 December 2020.
