Young Sheffield Wednesday midfielder receives rave reviews

Sheffield Wednesday's coaching staff have received glowing reports on teen starlet Liam Shaw from neighbours Chesterfield.

Midfielder Liam Shaw is currently on loan at Chesterfield

The attacking midfielder recently joined the Spireites on a month's loan and has started their last three National League matches.

Shaw, 18, is set to return to Hillsborough later this month.

Academy coach Holdsworth told The Star: "Liam is a young boy playing in a team that is struggling but the reports we have had back have been pleasing.

"Hopefully it will stand him in good stead when he comes back or if he stays at Chesterfield."

Asked if there is a possibility of Shaw's loan deal being extended, Holdsworth said: "It is up to Steve [Steven Haslam, academy manager] and the first-team staff in terms of what they want to do with him.

"It also depends on Chesterfield. If they think he has done well enough, then obviously there will be discussions."
