WYCOMBE may be 20th in League One with only 12 points but that does not stop them fancying their chances against the Owls tomorrow.
That’s because they have already beaten Sheffield United.
Wanderers midfield Matt Bloomfield says: “They (Wednesday) are doing well this season but we proved against Sheffield United we’re capable to winning these games, and we have to believe that, going into Saturday’s game.” Gary Waddock’s side had lost five matches in a row until they beat the Blades 1-0 last month. They also won 3-1 at Hartlepool a fortnight ago, but in their last two games have gone down 2-0 at Oldham and 2-1 at home to Charlton.
But they are said to have made life awkward for the League One leaders last Saturday.
Bloomfield said: “We really upped our game. This was a team top of the league and we matched them. We were frustrated not to come off with a point.
“We can take heart from the way we’ve performed, especially in the second half, and move forward with it.”
Gary Megson knew Wanderers boss Waddock as a battling player and he expects a full-blooded challenge tomorrow from a side who came up from League Two but are finding life tough in League One.
Megson said: “He (Waddock) was a good player, probably similar to me.
“He knows the game and he’ll have taken that into management. He’ll be made of the right stuff to get them moving forward.”
