The 18-cap England international played nearly 250 matches across two spells with the Owls in some of the best Wednesday sides of all-time.

He missed the 1991 League Cup final win through suspension but was a prominent fixture in the sides of the early 90s that also qualified for two domestic cup finals in 1993 and recorded a third-place finish in Division One in 1991/92.

Club icon Roland Nilsson plays at right-back, with Northern Ireland international Nigel Worthington on the left. They’re either side of rock at the back Des Walker and current Watford manager Nigel Pearson.

Danny Wilson slots in on the right of midfield alongside Palmer himself and cup final hero John Sheridan and there is no surprise that there is a place for Chris Waddle on the left.

Up top, David Hirst and Mark Bright are reunited. It’s not a bad side.
