Many midweek games in the Championship are usually broadcast via the red button on Sky Sports – but the DW Stadium fixture will not be available to viewers in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland.

The match was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday but was put back because Garry Monk’s side were involved in FA Cup fourth round action at QPR on Friday evening.

And because the game was not originally designated for midweek, it means the home club can decide whether to allow red button coverage.

Therefore, the relegation-threatened Latics have opted against allowing the game to be screened in a bid to entice more supporters to the DW.
