The Owls picked up four points from those two games and will come up against a Rams side which has struggled to secure wins on their travels this season.

Phillip Cocu’s outfit has recorded just two away wins – one of which came on the opening day of the season at Huddersfield Town – and picked up only 11 points from a possible 51 on the road.

Their away day blues continued on Tuesday night when they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Queen’s Park Rangers to slip to 15th place and 11 points adrift of the Championship play off spots.

Speaking after the game at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, Cocu said he felt his side were not getting the points return they deserved based on recent performances away from home.

“Yes, since January in the away games we have played much better than we did before,” said the Dutchman. “We dominate more, create much more but the issue is we concede too many goals, today two, and the second goal we did not defend well.

“Our opponent did not create a lot of chances on goal, but they were effective, they scored twice. We created more but only scored one. In the end, football is also about results, so I cannot be happy.

“But the way we played, it was not bad, I think.”

Derby, who are expected to include former Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney in their line-up for Saturday’s clash, will head to Hillsborough without a victory in four matches.

The two sides drew 1-1 at Pride Park in December, with the Rams securing a point from the penalty spot through Chris Martin after Moses Odubajo was adjudged to have fouled Jack Marriott.
