Both players have featured regularly for their sides over the course of the 2019/20 season, which Monk explains was the point of their time away from the Owls, but neither will be recalled to help Wednesday’s effort in the remaining nine games of this Championship campaign.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Monk said, “They’re unavailable for this season anyway, because of their season-long loans. If we brought them back, they wouldn’t be available for us to use.

“The benefit for those two is to be playing games, and that was the reason for their loans at the start of the season.

“We can recall them, but they can’t play any part in the rest of the season anyway.”

The 2. Bundesliga season is expected to be wrapped up by the last weekend of June, and both players will be eager to end on a high having enjoyed their time elsewhere in Europe so far.
