The Owls were third in the Championship at Christmas but a run of just one win in seven games has seen Garry Monk’s side slip to 11th and seven points adrift of the play-off places.

Their next two games are away at relegation-threatened sides Barnsley tomorrow and Luton Town in midweek before they return to Hillsborough on Saturday week to welcome Reading.

And Wickham, who has returned for a third loan spell after signing from Crystal Palace on deadline day, says the mood within the camp is ‘good and relaxed’ and believes Wednesday can resurrect their play-off push.

“We’re all aware of the situation,” said the 26-year-old striker. “We have 15 or 16 games left and we’re seven points off the top six at the moment.“It’s three wins, we know we’re more than capable of that.

“The mood in the dressing room is good and relaxed. You don’t want people being up tight.“Hopefully when the days and chances come we’ll use that.”

Wickham says Wednesday has ‘totally changed’ since he enjoyed loan spells in 2013 and 2014.“I think the ambition of the club, the way the chairman and the manager want us to go is clear to everyone,” he said. “I’ve not been back in five or six years and everything’s changing. We want to be a Premier League club and that’s what we’re all here to do.”
