Wickham headed home Jacob Murphy’s corner on 13 minutes before Luongo doubled Wednesday’s lead after the break. The hosts pulled a goal back through Nahki Wells but Garry Monk’s men held on for their first win since the Championship season resumed. Here’s how Owls fans reacted to the victory on social media…

@RJGervais8ball: “52 points = safety. Not in a Wednesday World. Well done lads, nice to see that kind of effort.”

@AlexKel06163964: “Seem to be playing better without any fans. Well deserved 4 points from 6 just keep pushing on now.”

@JoannaB29636908: “I miss working matchdays I miss my friends, the guests, the fans. I miss the calm of the pitch & the sound of the sprinklers when I get to work and it’s empty, I miss the vibration of Hi Ho Silver Lining playing! I miss it all! Will never take it for granted ever again!”

@HuttonKeely: “Well done lads brilliant performance and well deserved.”

@nanjayman: “Good result against a team looking to get into the top 6. Even more so when you look at our recent away form. Another solid performance after the Forest game. And a Sheffield double to boot.”

@matt_scholey: “Some good signs of recovery but as always the key will be playing like that consistently.”

@bidderadam: “Another really encouraging performance. Best 2 performances since Christmas since the restart (with a lot of high earning hanger-ons gone too). Topped off with a Sheffield Double!”

@sowls1867: “Monk got us to third at Xmas and for a late and unprecedented capitulation at Stoke could have took us top. Why are people surprised that we are again looking dangerous. First 2 games back against 2 play off hopefuls and both games we have looked by far the better team.”

@chezzy_owl: “The 3-5-2 formation works for me, solid in the middle so they had to hit long balls which Iorfa eats up all the time. Wildsmith brilliant in goal, unlucky not to get clean sheet, there was a push by their forward as cross come in. Great display today.”
