The statistics do little to help punters ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s clash with Watford at Hillsborough.

On the one hand, the Owls’ five home fixtures this term have produced just six goals in total lending appeal to either a match tally of fewer than three on this occasion at 4/5 with Stan James or even betway’s 5/2 for the two sides to come up with less than 1.5 goals between them.

However, the pair have generated a whopping ten goals in their last two meetings here, meaning bet365’s 19/20 about this contest generating a minimum of three might prove popular, alongside Stan James’s 8/11 for both teams to find the net.

Ladbrokes quote Stuart Gray’s charges at 17/20 to break the deadlock in this one, Atdhe Nuhiu is bet365’s 11/2 favourite to fire that opener and Stevie May is a marginally bigger 6/1 (BetVictor) in the same market.

At the New York Stadium tonight, the television cameras are 10/11 via Skybet to witness at least a goal from each side as Rotherham entertain Leeds.

BetVictor make the Millers 7/10 to be the first team on the scoresheet but that opener won’t come from Luciano Becchio who has a long-term injury. That opens the door potentially for Matt Derbyshire, rated by BetVictor at 13/2 to put his side 1-0 in front.

In League One, Winner.com chalk Sheffield United’s clash with Bradford up at 17/20 to produce more than 2.5 goals, the first of which is 5/6 (Stan James) to come from one Nigel Clough’s players. More precisely, William Hill mark 7/1 against Mark McNulty netting the opener at Vallley Parade, where Jose Baxter is also a 7/1 shot, this time at bet365.

Elsewhere, BetVictor 4/1 for Eoin Doyle to notch first for Chesterfield at home to Oldham, Paddy Power price Doncaster’s Nathan Tyson at 7/1 to start the scoring at Fleetwood and Sam Winnall is 15/2 with bet365 to do likewise for Barnsley, at Peterborough.
