Wednesday chairman, Dejphon Chansiri, is currently on the hunt for a new manager after the decision to part ways with Garry Monk earlier this week, with Tony Pulis reportedly the favourite to take on the position at this stage of proceedings.

The Star understands that, as expected, it was long-serving coach, Neil Thompson, who took today’s session as he does his best to prepare the team for their upcoming clash with Preston North End, however the club is hoping to have Monk’s successor in the door in advance of their trip to Deepdale on November 21st.

It’s thought that ‘Thommo’, who has been with the club for the best part of a decade in various roles, will continue to run the sessions following the exit of Monk and his team, so at least the players will have a familiar face and some sense of continuity for the time being.

A number of first team players turned out for the U23s this week as they looked to get some minutes in their legs, while Tom Lees was back amongst things after missing the last couple of games due to personal issues.
