Sheffield Wednesday will fancy their chances of progressing to the third round of the Carabao Cup after they were drawn against League Two opposition.

The Owls will welcome Rochdale to Hillsborough after an impressive 2-0 win over Championship Sunderland on Wednesday evening saw them into the second round.

It will be the first meeting between the two sides since a 2-0 win for Wednesday at Spotland at the same stage of the same competition back in 2020.

Speaking after the win over Sunderland, Owls boss Darren Moore spoke about the importance of grabbing another win.

Sheffield Wednesday cruised to a 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Sunderland.

“I thought it was a good game for both teams but for us we can be pleased today,” he told Sky Sports. “As the game went on we got stronger and stronger and I’m really pleased.

“The boys did the jobs that were asked of them off the ball, they worked well together.”

Round Two ties will take place week commencing 22 August.
