The Owls are the latest club to be linked with the United youth product, with Swansea City also having been reported to be interested, but the Star understands that – if he is to leave on loan – the first prize is to get him to a club in the Premier League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær sees a big future for the midfielder at Old Trafford, and it’s thought that the player is itching to prove himself there if given the chance, although a loan move could be on the cards in order for him to try and pick up some more regular game time.

The 19-year-old is held in high regard in Manchester, and has been compared to Michael Carrick in the past, with Solskjær previously saying, "I believe he's got the chance to have a great future. He knows we believe in him, we've got great faith in him as the next Michael Carrick…

Garner, and England youth international, has played seven senior games for United already – including four in the UEFA Europa League – would be a good fit for the Owls with the likes of Joey Pelupessy, Kieran Lee and Sam Hutchinson out of contract, but the second tier may not be for him at this stage as United look a bit higher up the footballing pyramid.
