Marooned at the foot of the Sky Bet Championship due to the points deduction handed down by the EFL for breaching spending rules, the Owls’ are having a nightmare on the pitch having lost their last four games – the latest a 1-0 reverse at Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park this afternoon.

The defeat leaves Garry Monk’s side eight points adrift of today’s opponents, who in the process of defeating the Owls recorded their first ever victory in the second tier of English football.

Writing on Twitter after the game, our Wednesday correspondent Joe Crann tweeted: “We were talking about six/seven points from the last three games against teams #SWFC should be getting results again - zero is unacceptable, not at all good enough.”

His comments are echoed by many Wednesdayites, who have taken to social media this evening to voice their anger.

Here’s a selection of their views on Twitter.

@MattSummerhill Seven days ago I said we had three huge games against sides we have to beat to stay up. We haven't scored a single goal let alone got a point. Yet again utterly lacklustre in the final third, we won't stay up even without the points deduction playing in this manner. Who does GM blame now?

@LetchworthOwl The only real hope we've got is for the new manager bounce to kick in and ride it as long as possible....with Monk in charge we'll be down before the lockdown's done #swfc

@stevo50313 Enough is enough #swfc #monkout

@DaveStoneface Don’t wait till Monday for a press conference . . . An immediate sacking is what's needed now #swfc #monkout

@tezowl Well what can you say about that? Toothless, clueless and the buck stops with the manager #swfc

@belly_eighty5 Dunno what’s worse lockdown or Wednesday...#swfc #lockdown

@75HagueSWFC The fact that Jos had a better win rate than Monk says it all #swfc

@SimoNo5 Personally, I'm really hurting. Life's really tough at the moment and I need the respite that football offers. I was hopefully that #swfc could be a positive distraction to the day to day grind, something to believe in again. Sadly not. I feel really let down #UTO

@LewisHastie It’s a bit early in the season and I usually stick by our managers longer than most Owls. But, the cold, hard reality is that with the points deficit (caused by the owner entirely), we need a vast improvement in results NOW or we will be relegated soon. Monk has to go #swfc

@R_Dickinson94 P45 for Mr Monk please #swfc

@OwlAston Get Paul Cook on that phone #swfc
