A crestfallen Sheffield Wednesday were punched in the gut in the final seconds as QPR stole a draw in painful circumstances. The Owls laid on their most fluent performance since their 4-0 rout of Plymouth Argyle on the opening day, connecting things nicely and setting up attacks - though that last touch continued to evade them until the last moments.
Barry Bannan’s sumptuous side-finish crept into the back of the QPR goal appeared to earn his side a thoroughly deserved three points but old habits came to haunt them once again and a failure to clear a set piece in the final seconds struck two points from the slate.
Big strides taken in lots of ways, you feel, though the result somehow feels a sickener. Here are our ratings from a sunny afternoon at S6.

5. Akin Famewo - 7
Found himself in a physical tussle with Michael Frey once or twice and won. A couple of his balls released Wednesday into attacks. A very solid return to the side. Off with 20 to go in a reshuffle. | UGC / Steve Ellis

6. Marvin Johnson - 8
Handed out a dose of the twists early doors and looked to be relishing the chance to start games again. Involved in a great percentage of their attacks. A real threat. | UGC

7. Shea Charles - 7
Broke lines and produced some nice touches. Grew into the game as it went on - his burst from deep is a weapon. | SWFC / UGC

8. Barry Bannan - 8
Got himself up the pitch in the first half and laying on those inside through-balls that cause so much damage. One cross early in the second half was saucy. Buzzed about, sprinkled some chaos and that finish? Mercy. | UGC
