Wednesday remain three points from safety but after a recent upturn in form, there is a renewed optimism that their second-tier status can be retained.
But is there renewed optimism shared by the data experts?
FiveThirtyEight have released their latest predictions on how the Championship table will finish – which makes for interesting and controversial reading.
So scroll down and click through our gallery as we see where their unique formula is predicting the Owls to finish come the end of the 2020/21 campaign:
1. 1st - Brentford - 87 points
Brentford are four points behind current leaders Norwich City, however the experts believe it’ll be Thomas Frank’s men who occupy top spot come May. Photo: Clive Rose
2. 2nd - Norwich City - 86 points
Although Norwich are tipped to drop a place, we’re sure Daniel Farke would be more than happy with this prediction by the experts. Photo: Stephen Pond
3. 3rd - Swansea City - 80 points
Swansea currently sit third and the experts expect Steve Cooper's side to stay there. That is despite being unbeaten in nine games in all competitions. Photo: Stu Forster
4. 4th - Watford - 78 points
With aspirations of returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking, fourth place won’t be accepted unless they’re promoted via the play-offs of course. Photo: Julian Finney
