Owls boss Garry Monk confirmed this morning that Dominic Iorfa (hamstring), Tom Lees (groin) and Izzy Brown (knee) are making strides in their recovery and may feature this week as the fixtures continue to come thick and fast.

He also delivered an update on when the club are expecting to have Massimo Luongo (knee) back in contention.

“We’ve had no injuries from the last game, which is good,” he said. “In terms of Tom, Dom and Izzy, they’re out on the training pitches.

“As I said before, we’re trying to give them as much time as possible, so we’ll have a closer look at them today.”

Asked about an expected recovery time for Luongo, one of Wednesday’s stand-out performers this season, Monk confirmed that he was not in contention for a return to fitness for this weekend’s game against Luton.

“It’s a big shame because Massimo has been one of our most consistent performers so far,” he said. “It’s obviously an unfortunate one where it’s happened in a game, it’s a contact injury.

“It’s quite a big swelling from that contact where he’s hyper-extended his knee, so he won’t be available. Those type of injuries tend to be around seven to 10 days really, that’s what we’re thinking, so we’ll see.

“He won’t be available for the weekend and it’s highly likely he won’t be in for the midweek, possibly for the game next weekend. Hopefully it’ll be into that following week.”

Chey Dunkley’s recovery from a double leg break suffered when at Wigan continues. Lees, Iorfa and Brown could feature in the next week or so.

Monk said: “With the others, it’s a case of looking at them. We know how fit they are in terms of missing training, even though they’ve been out for a few days now, it’s about looking at then and seeing where they’re at.

“We’re moving in the right direction and that’s good. It won’t be long until we have those guys ready and fully fit but again, it’s about assessing the situations as a needs must. They’ve been out on the pitches for a few days now and it’s a case of seeing how they feel and building up their fitness.”
